A moment’s reflection on what 2012 meant to Sabisu

A moments reflection.

At the end of last year we’d expanded massively; we’d created a viable software start-up out of nothing. We’d expanded at a rate of 95% (i.e., doubled) whilst remaining profitable. We still are.

We’re still the most agile enterprise software company we know. In 2012, we met 49 milestones in 43 releases. We closed 782 tickets in 12 months (average of 18/release, 65/week, biggest month July with 161).

This year has been about consolidation and communication. It’s been busy. There are obviously various milestones and achievements we can’t put out in a public forum, but here are some we can:

  • The current website was relaunched in January…
  • White papers started to go out in February…
  • Invited to present at ARC World Forum in February…
  • Built the Capital Projects demo dashboards in March with some ex-Shell consultants…
  • Completed our gesture control proof of concept in March…
  • Integrated OPC-UA in April…
  • Won a Corporate IT Forum Innovation Award in April for a customer implementation…
  • Demoed OPC UA integration at OPC Europe in Basle in May…
  • Rolled out the improved Widget Editor/Builder in June…
  • Capital Projects white papers and accompanying collateral went out in August…
  • Courted development partners with a specific value proposition in September…
  • Introduced Actions in September…
  • Kicked off our R&D programme in September…
  • Moved our development environments into the datacentre in October…
  • Went into a limited beta with Sabisu Mobile in October…
  • Revised the ever popular Sabisu Excel Plug-in in October…
  • Starting working with some vendor partners in November…
  • Lynsey, our new PM, started with us in November…
  • Moved into the new Teesside office in December…
  • Adopted a charity and acted on it…

If only we could list the new customers; the expanding customers; the new partners; the proposals that excite us for next year; our new R&D work that will surprise and delight…

I’m going to end this as I ended my email to the team last year. I can’t put it any better:

All the values we’ve talked about in the past, like ownership of problems, proactivity and forming great relationships, well, they’ve been carried through, so well done guys.

(I’ll have to stop. I’ve got something in my eye.)

Thanks everyone – colleagues, customers, partners.

We’ll have a skeleton staff on duty over Christmas; hopefully wherever you are, you’ll be having a great holiday.
